Rich Hine Promoted to ThayerMahan Vice Chairman, President of ThayerMahan Offshore Amid Rapid Growth Across Maritime Sector

GROTON, CT, March 19, 2025 – Rapid growth in ThayerMahan's commercial offshore sector throughout 2024 and into 2025 drove expansion and the promotion of co-founder Richard Hine to Vice Chairman of ThayerMahan and President of ThayerMahan Offshore.

Hine, a co-founder of ThayerMahan, was previously promoted to President of ThayerMahan Offshore Energy in 2023. His leadership proved instrumental in scaling safe, innovative, reliable, and efficient offshore solutions for the maritime sector. He accelerated business expansion to consistently solve real-world problems for commercial and government customers.

[“From our founding to today, Rich has been a cornerstone of ThayerMahan's success,” said ThayerMahan Chairman and CEO Mike Connor. “His industry expertise and business acumen have been instrumental in driving both growth and innovation. Rich's ability to seamlessly match advanced technologies to practical applications has secured ThayerMahan's position as a leader in the maritime industry. I look forward to his strategic insight as Vice Chairman, as ThayerMahan continues to grow and rise.”]

ThayerMahan Offshore's explosive growth started with the application of defense technologies to the nascent U.S. offshore wind industry. Since then, ThayerMahan developed one-stop shopping for offshore cable support and for offshore construction support. Individual service lines range from removal of unexploded ordnance and precision seabed monitoring to Big Bubble Curtain sound mitigation and passive acoustic monitoring for whales.

Under Hine's leadership, the company also added a revenue center for vessel management. ThayerMahan's US flagged work and crew transfer vessels include the 180-foot, 73 gross-ton TM Diligence and 170-foot, 72 gross-ton TM Vigilant.

Rapid growth for Hine and ThayerMahan is projected to continue. As international concerns rise over pipeline and cable-cutting incidents, demand for ThayerMahan's dual-use offshore infrastructure security capabilities continues to grow.

[“I'm deeply honored to be named Vice Chairman of ThayerMahan,” said Hine. “The growth we are witnessing - driven by the ever-increasing demand for subsea cable and offshore construction support services - is truly remarkable. Our global economy is increasingly reliant on this maritime infrastructure, and the need for robust offshore security has never been more critical. ThayerMahan is at the forefront of providing innovative solutions to construct, operate, and safeguard vital infrastructure. I am proud to lead our exceptional team as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in maritime technology and security.”]

A U.S. Naval Academy graduate and Naval nuclear engineer, Hine built a diverse career and skillset in real estate development, construction, retail sales, and start-up ventures that proved instrumental to founding ThayerMahan with Mike Connor, his former shipmate aboard the USS Pittsburgh (SSN720). His expertise in capital formation, finance, and budgeting have been crucial to ThayerMahan's continued success.

In addition to his bachelor's degree in political science from the Naval Academy, Hine earned a master's degree in history from Yale University and a master's in theology from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception at Seton Hall University.
