Systems that identify and disrupt transnational organized crime (TOC).

Maritime assets require constant, diligent, and persistent guard against an ever-increasing variety of seaborne threats.

Maritime Border Security

The seaborne accessibility of a nation and the vitality of its economy provide access, opportunity, and incentive for transnational organizations to transport drugs, humans, and other contraband ashore. ThayerMahan systems provide Maritime Domain Awareness from seabed to surface so maritime (saying this word too much) security organizations can disrupt put an end to illegal maritime border activity.

Transnational organized crime (TOC) poses a direct and escalating threat to public health, public safety, and national security.  Transnational criminal organizations engage in a broad range of criminal activities, including drug and weapons trafficking, migrant smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal fishing.

ThayerMahan's service contributes a new force package that adds surface to seabed security to your coastal maritime domain awareness picture. This scalable capability as a service fills a key asset/awareness gap in critical locations. It allows persistent surveillance and the ability to track low radar cross section fast-moving surface contacts and dark and spoofed targets with no additional capital assets, human resources, training, equipping, or maintaining costs. It enables near-continuous monitoring of trafficking routes or IUU fishing fleets using multi-mission unmanned systems, and it leverages  enterprise communications networks, data storage and management, AI/ML tools, and information sharing and dissemination capabilities at speed and scale. It creates a persistent law enforcement intercept capability with a clear chain of custody for evidence. Finally, this maritime domain awareness capability supports partnering across regional stakeholders.

Critical Infrastructure Security

Today's operating conditions are complex. Maritime operators must consider a broad assortment of conventional and unconventional threats. A wide variety of maritime traffic is prevalent including civilian shipping, military patrols, and migrant vessels. Weaponized uncrewed systems and maritime mines are increasingly deployed in conflict and represent a challenging new threat to offshore operations and critical undersea infrastructure.

Maritime operators must consider a range of sensing capabilities to operate safely in the ocean environment. While conventional sensors like radars and cameras have been proven to detect and track common manned surface vessels, ThayerMahan's acoustic systems offer protection against subsurface contacts and add an additional detection and tracking capability for surface traffic.

  • ThayerMahan maintains a commitment to safety and quality. Even in challenging operating environments, system designs must be developed to provide a safe work environment for humans and marine life.

  • Oceans are the final frontier and play a vital role in the planet's overall health. All future efforts require maximum care and innovative solutions to protect the environment and its inhabitants.

  • ThayerMahan operates within the regulatory boundaries established by agencies entrusted to protect the environment and will meet any additional requirements set forth by customers.
