As Vice President, ThayerMahan Offshore, Chris assists with all commercial operations including ThayerMahan’s Big Bubble Curtain capability, marine mammal monitoring, unexploded ordnance mitigations and high resolution survey operations.
During a distinguished career in the United States Coast Guard spanning more than three decades, Chris was the Commanding Officer of four ships including the USCGC ESCANABA, a 270-ft worldwide deployable medium endurance cutter. More recently he served as the Coast Guard’s First District Chief of Staff leading a workforce of 9,000 in the execution of all Coast Guard missions from the Canadian border to northern New Jersey. Prior to this he was the Captain of the Port and Sector Commander for Southeastern New England. During his time as Sector Commander he co-authored the Massachusetts Rhode Island Port Access Route Study (MARIPARS) which created a path to achieve both offshore wind and navigation safety in one of the world’s largest wind energy areas.
In addition to his operational tours, Chris developed the Coast Guard’s $10 billion annual appropriation and led the Service’s Officer Personnel Management (OPM) office directing all human resource decisions for 8,000 officers. Following graduation from MIT he was instrumental in the implementation of an enterprise wide Business Process Re-engineering effort that modernized the Coast Guard’s Procurement and Financial Management systems.
Chris and his wife Angela have two sons and live in East Lyme, CT.
