John O'Malia

John oversees ThayerMahan’s AI development and implementation strategy, allowing our customers to convert the troves of raw data gathered by our autonomous systems into targeted, high-value actionable intelligence.

Deeply involved in AI and machine learning since the earliest days of the discipline, John specializes in the design of autonomous systems that augment human capabilities and reliably deliver on human intent. This expertise helps to drive ThayerMahan’s rapidly evolving capabilities in contexts such as port and maritime security, interdiction of illegal fishing, threat and anomaly detection, scenario and environment modeling, decision support enhancement, and human-adaptive autonomous systems.

The volume of data in the modern threat space can be overwhelming, and John’s mission is ultimately to ensure that decision-makers in the field to have exactly the right information at exactly the right time to make the best decisions possible in situations of consequence.

Prior to joining ThayerMahan, John designed AI systems for a wide variety of industries, including gaming, finance and derivatives, customer relationship management, and defense. He has authored multiple pending US patents for both autonomous AI agents and the enhancing the performance of AI systems.
