Kevin’s portfolio at ThayerMahan includes mission planning, logistics, testing, and staffing and analysis of our marine operations.
Before assuming his current position Kevin served as ThayerMahan’s Director of Business Strategy and Marketing where his portfolio included strategy, marketing, and business development; and Director of Maritime Operations, where he planned operations, assessed risk, coordinated logistics, executed autonomous unmanned vehicle tactical operations, and delivered tailored analysis and near-real-time customer reporting.
During his 27-year career in the U.S. Coast Guard, Kevin held positions, including: command of a USCG cutter; Chief of Planning and Response at Sector New Orleans; Incident Commander for oil spill and HAZMAT response; Operations Section Chief for the DM-932 barge spill response; and Finance Section Chief for the Deepwater Horizon unified response. His responsibilities have included: port/waterway/coastal security, maritime commerce, incident response, search and rescue, marine environmental response, drug interdiction, law enforcement, living marine resources enforcement, migrant interdiction, defense readiness and hurricane response.
As a Certified Defense Financial Manager, Kevin oversaw the Coast Guard’s enterprise financial policy when the Department of Homeland Security earned its first clean audit opinion. He led an enterprise-wide transformation initiative to modernize financial management, procurement and contracting, and property management business processes. In the academic realm, he was a Professor of Management and lectured on leadership, organizational development, change management, negotiations, and conflict management.
Kevin, his wife Wendy and son Ethan live in Mystic, Connecticut.
